Mobile Battery Replacement & No-Start Diagnostics
A vehicle that won't start is the worst candidate for a tow — it's the easiest thing to fix where it sits. I test the battery, charging system and starter circuit on site, then replace whatever actually failed instead of guessing. Cold Minnesota mornings expose weak batteries first, so this is a busy call from November through February.
What I do on site
- Battery testing, replacement and terminal repair
- Alternator and charging-system testing
- Starter and solenoid replacement
- Parasitic draw testing on batteries that die overnight
- Corroded cables, grounds and fusible links
- Crank-but-no-start diagnosis (fuel, spark, sensors)
- Jump-start and recovery for a vehicle that just needs a boost
Signs it's time to call
- Slow, lazy cranking on cold mornings
- A single click — or rapid clicking — when you turn the key
- Dash lights dim when you crank
- The battery dies if the vehicle sits a few days
- Battery or charging warning light on the dash
- It starts fine with a jump, then dies again later
How pricing works
Testing and diagnosis is quoted up front on the phone. If the fix is a battery, you pay for the battery plus the visit — no separate towing bill and no shop drop-off. Bigger electrical diagnosis is billed by the hour, and I tell you what I've found before spending more time on it.
Timing & season
Most battery replacements are done in under an hour. Charging-system and parasitic-draw testing takes longer because the vehicle needs to sit. Batteries usually last 4–6 years in Minnesota — worth testing in the fall before the first cold snap.
Common questions
My car is dead in the garage — can you still come?
Yes. That's exactly the situation mobile service is built for. The vehicle never has to move.
How do I know if it's the battery or the starter?
A slow crank usually points at the battery or cables; a single loud click with strong lights often points at the starter. I test both rather than replacing parts on a guess.
Can you test my alternator on site?
Yes — charging output and voltage drop are both tested in the driveway with the engine running.
Do you do jump-starts?
I do, usually as part of the visit. If a jump gets it running, I test right away to find out why it went dead in the first place.
